Simulation of the spread of a virus

Made for Singapore Mathematical Society Essay Competition 2021

• Our team of 3 had to write a report on “Mathematics and Pandemics” for the competition.
• We used this simulation to support our report on the mathematical formulas we developed. (Ok it was mostly my teammates who did the math-ing, I just implemented their math.)
• It is a very simplistic simulation, where you can adjust values like:
  • range of spread,
  • probability of infection,
  • time taken to recover, etc
• We got 1st Prize and the paper was published on SMS’s Mathematical Medley in 2022 :D

Post-mortem

• The original version explained nothing and was made solely to get the results we needed. Old version here
• A couple of years after that, I was bored one day and updated it to v2.0 to make things clearer.
