Simulation of the spread of a virus
Made for Singapore Mathematical Society Essay Competition 2021
- Our team of 3 had to write a report on “Mathematics and Pandemics” for the competition.
- We used this simulation to support our report on the mathematical formulas we developed. (Ok it was mostly my teammates who did the math-ing, I just implemented their math.)
- It is a very simplistic simulation, where you can adjust values like:
- range of spread,
- probability of infection,
- time taken to recover, etc
- We got 1st Prize and the paper was published on SMS’s Mathematical Medley in 2022 :D
Post-mortem
- The original version explained nothing and was made solely to get the results we needed. Old version here
- A couple of years after that, I was bored one day and updated it to v2.0 to make things clearer.
- Footage of the new version here
